We met with Viewsonic this year to talk to them purely about their 4K products. Initially, we didn't know what to expect from Viewsonic since they haven't really been considered much of a professional display company, but they appear to be expanding themselves with their 84" 4K touch display and their 32" LED display for professional graphics.
The 84" touch display is designed for digital signage and the like, and actually has the ability to have a fairly powerful computer built into it. If the supplied system isn't powerful enough for display, you can always hook up your own computer using your own graphics card. Needless to say, this was pretty impressive, but we really wanted to see their PC monitors.
Walking over to the 32" LED monitor really felt like Deja Vu from when we did our 4K review where we compared the GTX 680 against the HD7970 using an EIZO 36" display. The encouraging thing about Viewsonic's display is that the power supply doesn't appear to be as hefty. In addition to that, this monitor has a lot of connectivity. Currently Viewsonic is hooking up the monitor using a dual DVI solution, but the final solution will be using a single DisplayPort 1.2 cable (since that cable is currently the only one capable of 4K @ 60Hz).
Looking at the connectivity, you can see that this display has power, USB-B, RJ45, and dual DVI. It also has a very simple looking button interface. All of this screams professional display to us, clearly, this is not designed to be a consumer product, but it definitely is designed to be high resolution, and it looks absolutely great in person. If only they had been running the 4K Timescapes demo video, they probably would've wow'd more passers by.
We also learned an interesting tidbit that is a common misconception, the birds that represent the Viewsonic brand logo are not parrots like most people believe. The birds are in fact Gouldian Finches which originate from the country/continent of Australia.
