Blue Microphones, innovator of studio microphones and other creatively designed audio tools, just teased what seems to be a new pair of headphones that will “liberate music from overhyped lo-fi to true mobile hi-fi”.
John Maier, CEO of Blue, claims that the current market is filled with low-quality, high-bloat products, and that their “Mo-Fi” (mobile fidelity) will end the struggle of hi-fi models being “too power hungry for our mobile devices”.

While the clip and announcement (full PR below) don’t share a whole lot, what we probably can expect from Maier’s language are headphones that are low impedance (below 8 ohms), and are equalized/tuned for mobile devices that typically have low power output. How this pair will actually sound is beyond anybody’s guess, but if they want to cut through the noise of consumer mediocrity, they’ll need a product that truly performs while being aggressively priced.
