Red Digital Cinema has dropped a few more hints about its eagerly anticipated Scarlet 2/3 camera. This high-resolution [3K] still and motion camera is meant as Red’s entry into the compact professional camera market and once there will certainly redefine it with a vengeance. You will be able to push 3K RAW footage at an unbelievable 120FPS [Super Slow Motion, usually used in high-speed sports] while 1080p and 720p are scaled back to 60FPS which is still almost double the 28-32FPS needed for full motion recording. Prices will be in the realm of $3,500 to $7,000 depending on the options you chose. If you just get the Scarlet 2/3 brain you will still shell out $2750. While a Scarlet x8 Fixed package [Includes Brain/Lens, Side CF Module, REDmote, 2.8-inch Touchscreen LCD, REDVOLT battery and travel charger] will set you back $4750. Lenses for the Scarlet 2/3 will all cost $950 and range from 6mm T-1.5 to 50mm T-2.9
