Peracon.com, electronic realtor for commercial real estate owners released a rather unique posting: offering Qimonda's 200mm and 300mm Fabs. What makes this offering so unique is the fact, that never before has anyone seen a fully functional 300mm fab for sale.
Current manufacturing technology used in these fabs are 90, 80 and 70nm DRAM, but some tooling for 65nm (Litho) was installed as well. Facilities are located near Richmond, Virginia (US).

Did you ever imagine that a top-class fab would be offered in a public auction?
More details on the 300mm fab show 101,000 square feet[9383 m2] Class 1,000 cleanroom, while the 200mm fab holds 85,000 square foot [7898 m2] Class 1 cleanroom.
In case your name is IBM, SUN, GlobalFoundries or any other, and want to buy liquidating facilities that can produce millions of chips you might want to check your wallet if you can afford to make a good offer. This world leading DRAM tech fab sure will be worth it!
Our take is very simple - there are some folk in Zelenograd that might be interested. After all, it only took two years for them to acquire all the technological licenses for exporting AMD's old 130nm 200mm equipment. Acquiring these two might even happen overnight, whoever promises to keep the majority of jobs safe.
One thing is certain - whoever had the money to survive this crisis and started to shop, got some incredible deals as we are now only beginning to recover from the recession.
