Seven months ago, Microsoft [NASDAQ: MSFT] launched BizSpark, an incubating program for small start-ups in the software arena. Today, BizSpark consists of more than 10,000 companies.
Microsoft may not be the darling of mainstream press at the moment, but the company isn't stopping with its support for smaller companies. Besides various development programs such as Action Pack [development licenses for the complete MSFT software stack], the company launched BizSpark, a business incubator wanting to become a regional development generator for the world.
Fast forward to seven months after the launch and we have a situation where a software giant from Redmond has gathered more than 10,000 supported companies and interestingly enough - around 1,500 supporting companies such as investment funds, tech parks, academic and governmental institutions that are pushing this program around.
At BSN*, we will follow the program closely and probably have some announcements coming soon. Watch this space.
