CES Unveiled - or whoopee let’s eat

The Consumer Electronics Show opened to the press two days before admitting the general public. A sneak peak at many of the "Innovation Award" and "Design and Engineering" winners drew a crowd. We journalists jockeyed for position in front of each exhibit, all ears with cameras ready to record the news.
Marvel's ARM-powered dual-screen eReader packs a punch
From femtocells to novelty TVs, from shiatsu-type massage chairs to 3D chip sets, from scuba goggle cameras to touch screen tablet computers. We marveled at it all. There is plenty to write about and our staff will be posting articles more in depth articles as the show progresses.
BSN's own John Oram catching the quadrocopter in flight
The biggest "lens attention getter" product seemed to be the AR.Drone from Parrot. Video games will never be the same. Flying quadricopters fascinated the audience. The software has Augmented Reality functions. Expect to read more on this one.
The event drew press from around the world, including our publisher, Theo Valich, straight out of Croatia. The crowd sounded like a gathering at the tower of Babel. Translators weren’t evident; however a guide dog provided another kind of assistance to one attendee. A radio announcer sent the show to our military personnel who were too busy to attend in person. Dave Graveline’s interviews went out on XM Satellite Radio and the American Armed Forces Networks.
Dave Graveline's show is airing on 100 radio stations nationwide - and yes, Jumbo Shrimp cocktail was the hit of the show
Techies and foodies alike crowded into the exhibit hall for a technological smorgasbord. The more traditional hot buffet was a hit too, as were the giant prawns, sushi, fresh melons, desserts to die for, and did I mention free booze? The press was welcomed to CES with entertainment, food, and, of course, first hand touch and feels of the latest in consumer electronics.
Entusiast meets experience: BSN* own Chris Barton and John Oram discussing the trends
We ran into old friends in the industry, and made a couple new ones. To get a feel for opening night, see our photo gallery, and come back every day to learn more about the astonishing things going on in the field we all love!
