Late last night we received news that OCZ Technology Group acquired PLX Technology's UK Design Team, a 40-people office which develops System-on-Chip (SOC) products.
This is the second brainpower acquisition in the world of solid state storage business, following the acquisition of Indilinx in April of this year.
In a short statement by Ryan Petersen, CEO of OCZ Technology Group, stated that they "believe the additional engineers along with the access to increased IP resources will enable us to significantly reduce the costs associated with storage protocol licensing, while simultaneously speeding our time to market."
In a nutshell, OCZ really wants to become the next Seagate or Western Digital of the Solid Storage market. With Indilinx and PLX Technology design team, their goal on reaching and beating companies such as Fusion-io is only drawing nearer.
