New Intel Sandy Bridge 17W Processors Offer up to 1.1GHz Turbo Boost

As new ultra-think notebooks such as MacBook Air refresh are getting ready for launch, Intel officially unveiled four new Ultra Low Voltage (ULV) processors based on Sandy Bridge microarchitecture. These processors are consuming up to mere 17 Watts of power. All four models carry two CPU cores only, integrated graphics and 4MB of L3 cache. However, based on model you can expect Turbo mode enabled / disabled, as well as L3 cache ranging from 2MB to 4MB.
Biggest expectations come out of top of the line processor, Core i7-2677M ticking at 1.8GHz. This processor is a beast in Turbo mode, with a single CPU core reaching 2.9GHz when needed. Seeing 1.1GHz overclock in mere 17W is more than impressive - and a really good answer to AMD's Llano-based Fusion notebooks in terms of battery life.
The i7-2677M goes for $317, and if you're not up to paying more than 300 greenbacks for CPU alone, you can opt for $289 Core i7-2657M. This part ticks at 1.7GHz by default, and Turbo mode will raise the clock up to 2.8GHz.
Third model in the series is the Core i5-2577M. For $39 less than i7-2657M, you get the same clock as the senior part, but lose 1MB of L3 cache and 100MHz in Turbo mode (3MB L3, 2.7GHz).
Finally, the most affordable part runs for only $137, and as you can imagine, this processor offers severely cut-down performance: 1.1GHz, No Turbo, No Hyper-Threading and only 2MB L3 cache. The name of the part is Celeron 847 and you can expect a lot of cheap notebooks based on this model. Or simply a base model for notebooks which you can upgrade to higher-performing i5 and i7 processors.
Given that parts are already shipping, it won't be long before we see the first notebooks based on these processors.
