New Adobe Flash Player 11 Goes 64-bit, 7.1 Surround and Stage3D

It's hard to believe that Adobe launched Flash Player 10 two and a half years ago, but the software giant from San Jose is finally getting ready to unveil its successor. The company released the first public beta version of Flash Player 11, which brings on many improvements.
First off, you can now download and use the 64-bit version of Flash Player on all three popular operating systems: Windows, Mac OS and Linux. Furthermore, the Flash Player 11 now supports Stage3D architecture for hardware accelerated graphics rendering, regardless of the type (i.e. no more just video acceleration on personal computers). The interesting bit is that the software now supports multi-channel surround sound, i.e. up to 7.1 systems.
The company published a list of features:
- Asynchronous bitmap decoding (for decoding images on initial load instead of on demand for improved app responsiveness)
- H.264/AVC software encoding for cameras
- 7.1 channel surround sound
- Support for the JPEG-XR advanced image compression standard
- G.711 audio compression for telephony
- Support for TLS Secure Sockets
- Secure random number generator
- Protected Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming (HDS) and extra content protection features
