Today is the first day of QuakeCon 2011, and John Carmack, ID Sofware's spiritus movendi held a traditional opening keynote.

In an hour and a half long session, John disclosed a lot of interesting tidbits about gaming development and the trends where he believes the industry is heading. For instance, we managed to learn that the console version of RAGE will feature two DVDs or what tradeoffs were made while evolving the MegaTexture technology part of IDTech 5.
