On BUILD conference in Anaheim, CA - Microsoft "pulled a Windows 7" and published a beta version of Windows 8 operating system.
The company started practicing public downloads of beta versions with the Windows Vista operating system, but it wasn't until Windows 7 that the operating system preview program received major recognition and marked over a million downloads in just one week.
Microsoft released the beta version of the new operating system to developers and if you direct the browsers to MSDN website, you can check the Windows 8 Developer Preview yourself.
