How Synaptics is Driving Your Windows 8 Touchpad and Touchscreen Experience

During Computex Taipei 2012, we met with the Synaptics team to discuss the upcoming Windows 8 operating system and how Synaptics is driving the user experience from touchpad to touchscreen.

Given that we all use touchscreens and touchpads, it is surprising to see company such as Synaptics being such a low profile. Yet, with the arrival of Godfrey Cheng from AMD the company is opening its gates and honestly, we have to say we are impressed with what we saw.

Synaptics Next-Gen Touchpad technology is powering the Lenovo Window 8 Ultrabook

Synaptics enjoys over half of world's touch market, and no matter if you use a phone, tablet or a laptop, chances are there's Synaptics IP and drivers involved. In the two videos we just recorded, we had a product manager of quite a unique name (wearing the Luck of an Irish necklace) take us through innovations in the world of touchpads and more importantly, touch displays. While the video above shows the look'n'feel of Windows 8 Metro interface paired with the next-generation touchpad, the video below shows what we all want to see - an Windows 8 Ultrabook (also from Lenovo) with a 13.3" touchscreen, i.e. multi-touch display:

This is the future of mobile computing - a 13.3" multi-touch display on a Lenovo Ultrabook. Even though its still a prototype, the ease-of-use approach is showing a clear path forward in Human Machine Interface (HMI) development
