AMD Slashes Prices, Introduces new Entry Level FX-4130 Processor
8/27/2012 by: Theo Valich

We've received news from AMD that the company went on a pricing offensive, as well as introduced a new processor. According to the information given, the company slashed prices up to $21 per processor.

For example, AMD's current top-end CPU - the octal-core FX-8150 with Liquid Cooled System will set you back $251, $20 less ($271). Furthermore, FX-4100 dropped by $11 to $101. Its old price, the $112 will now buy you an FX-4130, a 3.9GHz quad-core processor.

The world of Fusion APUs did not expand with new models (in expectation of arrival of 2nd gen Trinity A10s), albeit new prices now feature two APUs below $50. The A4-3300 now goes for $46, while A4-3400 goes for $48 - these two are combined out of a 2.5GHz dual-core processor with a Radeon HD 6410D (444MHz for the A4-3300, and 600MHz for the A4-3400).

New Pricing of AMD FX and A-Series Processors

As you can see in the image above, the processors represent quite a value for the money offered. Even the models which were not highlighted by AMD, such as the A8-3870K Black Edition ($101) now represents an attractive proposition.
