Samsung GT-I9502 leaked on Chinese forums - Is this the Galaxy S IV?
3/11/2013 by: Denis Jelec
First "proper" leaks of the new Samsung Galaxy flagship smartphone have emerged and there are no major surprises. In fact, if one gathers all of the rumors thus far and combines them with the leaked press photos of the device itself, it is easy to get a relatively clear picture of what is coming on 14th of March.
For example, press photos even leaked onto Google's photo-sharing service, Picasa. Without further ado, this is an image of a device which is set to be unveiled this week in a launch event in New York City.

This leak was followed on the Chinese forum 52 Samsung, where the user Xiaoxia hosted a set of revealing images. Device shown there seems to be running Android 4.2.1 "Jelly Bean" with what is likely to be a carrier-customized interface. Hardware involved ought to be familiar by now - the GT-I9502 features a five-inch, 1080p Full HD display, powered by an 1.8GHz Octa-Core ARMv7 processor paired with a powerful PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU. 2GB of LPDDR3 memory is here to ensure the high bandwidth needed to feed all the cores. Exynos 5410 SoC is the first product that supports ARM's big.LITTLE design philosophy.
Of course, there is still a chance this is a skillful hoax or some sort of prototype made by Samsung itself, but until we see the device officially introduced, it might just be the best view of the new Galaxy until the official unveiling.
Recently (early January), Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S series has surpassed the accumulated sales record of 100 million units. Galaxy flagship after another, all of them set their own sales records and there is no much doubt that the next one will set yet another landmark for the South Korean company.

Judging by its size, the new Samsung Galaxy SIV fits between Samsung Galaxy SIII and the first Galaxy Note
Samsung decided to invest more in high quality materials, and the new Galaxy SIV features a thicker metal stripe around the phone, as well as a plastic mesh backplate.
The new backplate - still plastic but with an interesting texture
Even though the display is no longer AMOLED the colors are pretty vivid.

2GB of memory. Even though you can see the IMEI number here, this was probably not hidden in order to show teeth to Samsung China PR department, rather than anything else.
AnTuTu Benchmark Performance Run: Samsung Octa-Core Lags behind Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel SoC's?
Samsung Galaxy SIV (GT-I9502) results using the AnTuTu v3.1.2. benchmark. From the looks of it, the device offered less performance than what Nvidia showed at Mobile World Congress 2013 with their Tegra 4 processor. Yet, this is a device which is probably going to sell in dozens of millions, while Nvidia did not announce a single Tegra 4 design win.
From the first looks, it seems we have a challenger for the title of "The Smartphone of 2013."
