Some more details about Motorola's new Moto X phone have leaked specifically pertaining to the camera, thanks to a photo posted on Picasa with some EXIF data. Thanks to a Google Employee, we now know that this phone is actually Motorola's Moto X for Verizon because of the FCC papers associating it with the model number XT1060 which will be the Verizon version of the Moto X. The bigger kicker that confirms this is that the Google employee that posted the picture is actually an account manager for Verizon to Motorola, it really doesn't get any easier to figure out than that.
As you can see from the image above, the picture was an HDR photo taken from inside of an office building in Shenzhen. The picture isn't particularly fantastic, but the truth is that it just looks like a test photo more than anything, perhaps akin to the leaked Flickr photos for the Lumia 1020.
Delving deeper into the data from the EXIF information available in this photo, we can see that it is in fact a Motorola device with the XT1060 model number and the resolution is 4320x2432 which translates to over 10 million pixels. In addition to the 10MP resolution, you can see the focal length of the photo is 4mm and the aperture is f/2.4 which doesn't say much until you see lower that the max aperture is f/2.4.
So, basically, if the rumors are correct, you could be getting a 10MP camera that has an f/2.4 lens for a rumored price of $199 if this is in fact not a high-end smartphone but rather a mainstream (fairly good) smartphone.
