GlobalFoundries officially announced their take over of Chartered Technologies of Singapore. They have combined operations to form a semiconductor contract manufacturing powerhouse with $2.75 billion in annual revenue.

At CES 2010 GlobalFoundries spoke with BSN* last week about their plans for 2010. They confirmed their $4.3 billion, Saratoga NY, Fab 8 is on schedule and will be shipping thousands of 300mm wafers with their 28nm "Gate First" process in 2012.
