It seems that the relationship between Palit and AMD is below the freezing point. During my conversation with sources in Gainward and Palit, I could not stop having a deja vu from 2002 and the Gainward Radeon 9700Pro card.

May 13, 2009 will be marked as a giant day in history of GPU computing. AMD released world's first stock clocked card with a GPU ticking at 1 GHz. AMD was the first with CPUs [Magnolia], now the company repeats the feat with GPUs.

The recent departure of Palit doesn't mean this massive manufacturer is ditching the market completely, but rather re-shaping its efforts to stronger brands in its portfolio.
