May 13, 2009 will be marked as a giant day in history of GPU computing. AMD released world's first stock clocked card with a GPU ticking at 1 GHz. AMD was the first with CPUs [Magnolia], now the company repeats the feat with GPUs.
It looks like ATI pulled a big coup over Nvidia with its Radeon 4890 - the card now launches weeks ahead of its competitor on paper, GeForce GTX 275. 40.000 cards were dispatched to partners and distributors.
