It's been a day since Apple's new digital software store opened for business and people have already downloaded over one million Mac applications.

Apple's new Mac app bazaar just went live with a thousand apps. It aims to simplify desktop software management while the influx of iOS developers creating Mac apps should hopefully lower the cost of desktop apps as well.

Apple issued a statement Thursday morning confirming that its desktop bazaar for Mac software goes live in 90 markets on Thursday, January 6 of next year, three weeks from now, with both free and paid software on offer.

The Mac App Store, Apple's already controversial software bazaar for Mac apps, may open its doors for business as soon as next Monday, December 13, well ahead of the official end-of-January launch timeframe.

You won't find free, demo, or trial software when the forthcoming Mac App Store launches by the end of January 2011. Unlike the App Store for iOS software, Apple insists that developers submit only paid Mac apps.
