Apple's new Mac app bazaar just went live with a thousand apps. It aims to simplify desktop software management while the influx of iOS developers creating Mac apps should hopefully lower the cost of desktop apps as well.

Apple issued a statement Thursday morning confirming that its desktop bazaar for Mac software goes live in 90 markets on Thursday, January 6 of next year, three weeks from now, with both free and paid software on offer.

The Mac App Store, Apple's already controversial software bazaar for Mac apps, may open its doors for business as soon as next Monday, December 13, well ahead of the official end-of-January launch timeframe.
